Monthly Summary - February

My name is Kristin Walsh and I am writing the monthly summary for February. I am in a group with Rob Mathews, Kandace Hoosier and Christy Blanch. We are currently focused on submitting the paper we have due on Sunday and have been working together for several days to get that completed.

For the projects we have coming up we decided to split into two groups. Myself and Kandace will be working on the paper due this weekend, and Rob and Christy will do the next. We have been using oovoo and email to communicate with each other which has worked nicely so far. One program I have looked at that I am interested in covering in this paper is the Maine College Transitions Initiative, which focuses on transitioning into higher ed.

We finished a very interesting collaboration over Sharan Merriam and Margaret Sanger several days ago. It was so interesting to learn more about the author of some of the textbooks we've had in this program. We felt that both educators we researched have offered a lot to the education field and were glad we chose them!

Really the only challenges we've had so far have been time constraints as we're all busy with jobs/family/misc. Our group seems to be working well together, and I'm sure we'll continue to produce interesting work throughout the semester!

  3. Splitting into two separate groups to divide the work is an interesting approach to divide the work load. I'm sure you will learn from each other, especially with the final project. I admit I had never heard of oovoo before and had to google it! Great job.

  4. Great update! I, too, had to look up oovoo. Interesting, though--great idea to ease the stress of groupwork for an online course. I'm interested in hearing about the Maine College Transitions Initiative, as I looked it up briefly to get a little introduction--looks interested, and cannot wait to hear more about it!

Hope you have a fantastic Spring Break,
